I save food scraps in the freezer and bring them to the Union Square Greenmarket for composting. It’s a nice idea until you don’t have time to go for two weeks and your freezer looks like this.
Good thing we don’t buy too much ice cream.

series-of-contradictions:

As a cyclist, I generally follow traffic rules and common etiquette, however, I will stop at every red light and stop sign when every pedestrian only crosses the street when they have the signal.  Good luck with that.

Oh yes, it’s war out there. However, something else to consider: just the other day I watched a biker on the 1st Ave. bike lane run a red light and immediately get pulled over by a cop car! I’d never seen that before. Now I look both ways — for oncoming cars/pedestrians and lurking cops.
Word to the wise my biking brethren! (And don’t forget my mantra.)

I completely disagree with the original post. Cyclists who cruise through red lights and stop signs are the reason crabby old people and yuppies with babies want to take down every bike lane in sight because they think we’re crazies. Just leave yourself enough time to stop at the lights, regardless of what pedestrians are doing.
